Recompile updates the business plan from the latest structured sections.

Start With the Smallest Action That Matches the Problem

Funderly gives you different editing tools because not every issue needs a full regeneration. If one paragraph is awkward, you should not rerun an entire document. If the underlying strategy changed, a tiny text edit will not be enough.

The fastest rule is simple: fix local wording locally, rerun a section when the section itself is weak, and recompile only when the business plan needs to reflect newer source material.

Use Regenerate When the Section Output Itself Is Weak

Regenerate is the right choice on analysis pages when the section feels generic, incomplete, or not useful enough. It reruns that section using the same saved idea context and section parameters.

If you know exactly what should change, choose Regenerate with Prompt instead. That opens the refinement dialog and lets you steer the next pass with your own instructions.

  • Use Regenerate when the result is weak but your business inputs are still correct.
  • Use Regenerate with Prompt when you want to push the next result in a specific direction.
  • Update the underlying business inputs first if the actual business changed.

Use Improve with AI for Selected Text Inside the Business Plan

Improve with AI is for local document refinement. In the business plan editor, select the exact passage you want to improve and use the floating AI menu to rewrite, summarize, fix grammar, shorten, lengthen, or change tone.

This is the best option when the structure is already right and you only want better wording. It works on the selected text, not the entire plan.

Use Recompile After Meaningful Source Changes

Recompile, shown as Update in the business plan header, rebuilds the document from the latest structured AI sections. Use it after you changed analysis outputs, updated other source sections, or want the document to sync to the newest generated material.

Because recompiling can replace manual edits, it is a bigger action than Improve with AI. Funderly keeps version history so you can restore an earlier state if you need to roll back.

Quick Decision Guide

When you are unsure, choose based on the level of change you need rather than the page you are on.

  • One sentence or paragraph is weak: use Improve with AI.
  • One analysis section is weak: use Regenerate or Regenerate with Prompt.
  • The business plan is out of sync with newer section outputs: use Recompile.
  • The business itself changed: update the inputs first, then rerun the affected areas.
