Export Troubleshooting
How to Troubleshoot Exports
Use this guide when an export format is locked, a download is missing, or the file does not reflect the latest state of the workspace.

Locked formats usually mean a plan entitlement issue, not a broken button.
Review your workspace
Stale business plan exports often need a recompile first.
Shape the output
Export generation can also be limited by browser download behavior or temporary server throttling.
If a Format Is Locked, Check Your Plan First
Funderly checks export entitlements before generating a file. If DOCX, XLSX, PDF, or PPTX is not included in your current plan, the export route exists but the request is blocked until the entitlement is available.
That means a locked export option usually points to access level, not a broken workflow. Start by checking the active plan in Subscription & Billing before treating the export itself as a bug.
If the File Looks Outdated, Refresh the Source First
Business plan exports reflect the compiled document, not every unfinished edit across the workspace. If the plan no longer matches the latest analysis sections, recompile the document before exporting.
Financial exports work the same way in principle. If assumptions or projections changed recently, confirm that the latest financial generation completed before downloading the file.
If Nothing Downloads, Check the Browser and Try Again
Successful exports are returned as direct browser downloads. If clicking export does not seem to do anything, the first issue to check is browser download behavior, blocked popups, or a silently blocked file-save prompt.
A second possibility is temporary server-side throttling. Export generation is rate-limited, so repeated requests in a short burst can fail even when the file itself is valid.
- Try the export again after a short pause if you requested several files quickly.
- Check whether the browser blocked the download or saved it to a default folder.
- Retry from the same surface where the export belongs, such as Overview or the Business Plan editor.
When It Is Worth Escalating
Escalate the issue if the correct plan is active, the source content is up to date, and the export still fails repeatedly across more than one attempt. In that case, note which format failed, which page you exported from, and whether the issue affects only one idea or every workspace.
Those details make it much easier to separate entitlement problems from generation issues and browser-only download problems.
